Our Coaches

Rob Hindmarsh

As head coach Rob oversees all squads. Rob is a Silver Licence coach and has 8 years of coaching experience. Apart from the years of experience at club level Rob has also worked as team coach for SAL & QSA teams, been Head Coach on several camps held overseas, at the AIS and other locations throughout Australia and also worked as Assistant Coach to Stephan Widmer at the QAS.

Rob has lots of experience and knowledge of swimmers of all ages from juniors to the development of Age Group Swimmers and has also been involved with the high performance side of swimming while at the QAS. Rob has a strong passion for coaching and his focus is to deliver a Swimming Program that will help swimmers reach their potential and give them the opportunity to progress down the pathway of swimming from Entry Level to the Elite.



Vince Raleigh

The Chandler High Performance Coach, Vince Raleigh, is a Platinum level licence coach. He has coached multiple swimmers to win medals at Olympic Games, World Championships, Pan Pacific Championships and the Commonwealth Games levels.

Some notable former team members include Brenton Rickard World Champion (2009) and Olympic Gold medallist, Linda McKenzie. Other swimmers to win Olympic medals were Patrick Murphy, Nicholas Ffrost, Ashley Delaney and Kirk Palmer.

Five Raleigh coached swimmers set new World Record marks 2006 – 2009 in Breaststroke, Backstroke and Freestyle events. In 2010 under Vince’s coaching Thomas Fraser Holmes won Gold and Silver medals at the Delhi Commonwealth Games.

From late 2010 till the end of 2012, Vince undertook the role of National Youth Coach where he led Australian Age and Development teams to the World University Games, Junior Pan Pacific Games and the Youth Commonwealth Games.

In the 2013 season Kylie Palmer from the Chandler Club won a Silver medal in the 4*200 relay at the Barcelona World Championships and she made finals in both the 400 & 200 freestyle. In the 2014 season swimmers Emma and David  McKeon from the High Performance squad at Chandler qualified for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games (July), and the Southport Pan Pacific Championships (August).



Tsuyoshi Kimura 

Tsuyoshi is Chandler's Intermediate and Senior Middle Distance Coach, he has also has coached Australian Age Medalists

Tsuyoshi has been a full time coach in Japan and in Australia for over 20 years. He is a certified silver licence coach and also holds an Austswim teachers licence.

In Japan he was a head coach at a very successful club which achieved several all Japan titles. Tsuyoshi's passion is coaching age group swimmers, he is extremely technically orientated. He is currently working with Rob as intermediate coach.

Tsuyoshi coached Japan Aged Championships medalists including Backstroke National record holder and finalists, and Open National Swimmers.



Nao Heffernan

Nao is our entry level squad coach and assists Rob with the Junior Squad.

Nao first started teaching swimming in Japan before she commenced teaching in Australia in 2003. She is a qualified learn to swim teacher and gained her bronze license in 2006. Swimming has always been a large part of her life.  Nao was a competitive swimmer and as a swimmer is fully aware of  the impact that quality coaching can have. Swimming has given her many opportunities to learn the importance of perseverance and the value of hard work.
